Mountain Lodge Restaurant Furniture Case Study: Lake Santeetlah Lodge
A Refined Furniture Program for a Lakeside Mountain Lodge in Robbinsville, North Carolina
Located in Robbinsville, NC 28771, Lake Santeetlah Lodge sits beside the picturesque 2,800-acre Santeetlah Lake in the Nantahala National Forest. Also known as Blue Waters Mountain Lodge, the property offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by the lakes, forests, and mountains of Western North Carolina. Guests can spend their days boating, hiking, relaxing on the decks, reading in the library, or simply enjoying the lake and mountain views.
The restaurant furniture needed to feel like a natural extension of that setting. Superior Seating supplied a coordinated collection for two distinct hospitality areas. The main dining room combines fully upholstered Bennett chairs in Persimmon, walnut table tops, and gold commercial bases. A softer lounge-style area uses Bliss armchairs in Reef, white sintered stone table tops with amber veins, and gold round bases. Both areas feel connected to the lodge while serving different dining and social experiences.

The lodge serves traditional Southern cuisine with a modern touch, including homemade breads and desserts, fresh local produce, and herbs grown in the lodge’s gardens. The furniture therefore needed to support a polished dining experience while preserving the warm, relaxed hospitality expected from an intimate mountain retreat.
The Challenge: Two Dining Experiences in One Lodge
The lodge interior already had a strong architectural identity. Wood-paneled walls and ceilings, substantial stone columns, wrought-iron stair railings, warm flooring, and landscape artwork created a rich rustic backdrop. Adding furniture that was too dark or visually heavy could have overwhelmed the rooms. At the same time, furniture that felt overly modern or minimal would have looked disconnected from the traditional lodge environment.
The property also needed to support different guest experiences. The main dining room required supportive chairs and substantial table surfaces for complete dinner service. The space beneath the staircase called for a softer, more conversational arrangement suited to wine, desserts, coffee, reading, or a relaxed meal. Both areas needed their own identity while still appearing to belong to the same lodge.
- Architectural balance: The furniture had to complement extensive wood and stone without making the rooms feel too dark.
- Distinct seating zones: The lodge needed traditional dining support and relaxed lounge-style seating.
- Guest comfort: Upholstered seating was essential for unhurried meals and longer conversations.
- Visual continuity: Walnut, gold, brass, and nature-inspired colors needed to connect both areas.

The Solution: Walnut, Gold & Nature-Inspired Upholstery
In the main dining room, the Fully Upholstered Beech Wood Bennett Restaurant Chair provides warmth and definition. Symphony Classic Persimmon introduces an earthy reddish-orange tone that recalls autumn foliage, fireside evenings, and the natural colors surrounding the lodge. The walnut-finish frame connects the chair to the room’s wood architecture, while brass accent nailhead trim along the back adds a tailored hospitality detail.
The Bennett chairs are paired with Solid Beech Wood Table Tops in Walnut, selected in 30" × 30" and 30" × 48" sizes. These dimensions support smaller dining arrangements as well as larger rectangular tables. Gold square and rectangular metal bases create a refined contrast beneath the wood tops and visually connect with the brass nailhead trim.
The lounge-style area creates a lighter atmosphere. Bliss Aluminum Wood-Grain Upholstered Armchairs in Symphony Classic Reef bring a muted blue-green tone inspired by lake water and the surrounding forest. Their walnut wood-grain frames connect them to the main dining room, while the armchair shape provides a more relaxed and enveloping seating experience.
The Reef armchairs surround 30" round Economy Sintered Stone Table Tops in White with Amber Veins. The pale surfaces brighten the area beneath the staircase and provide contrast against the wood-paneled walls. Gold powder-coated round bases complete the setting, carrying the same metallic accent used throughout the dining room.

The selected finishes reflect the surrounding landscape while meeting the practical needs of a hospitality environment. Walnut appears across chair frames and table tops, tying the furniture to the lodge’s walls, ceilings, staircase, and doors. Persimmon introduces warmth in the main dining room, while Reef creates a quieter lake-inspired atmosphere in the lounge area. Gold bases and brass trim provide a connecting accent that elevates both spaces without overpowering the rustic architecture.
- Bennett Chairs: Fully upholstered beech wood construction, walnut frame, Symphony Classic Persimmon upholstery, and brass accent nailhead trim on the back.
- Bliss Armchairs: Aluminum wood-grain frames in walnut with Symphony Classic Reef upholstery and a supportive armchair profile.
- Walnut Table Tops: Solid beech wood surfaces in 30" × 30" and 30" × 48" sizes.

Guest Experience
"Family used to own this place it’s amazing the new owners did amazing job looks great coming back for a visit one of the most beautiful places ever been. Cabin is huge very well kept. Great place to escape"

Guest testimonials frequently highlight the peaceful environment, fireside atmosphere, lake views, attentive hospitality, and memorable food. The furniture reinforces that experience by avoiding the impersonal appearance of a standard commercial package. Each finish — from Persimmon and Reef upholstery to walnut wood, white stone, gold bases, and brass trim — feels deliberately connected to the property.
Furniture Inspiration & Moodboard
The Lake Santeetlah Lodge moodboard draws directly from the property’s landscape and architecture: walnut wood, mountain stone, lake-inspired Reef, autumnal Persimmon, white surfaces with amber veining, brass, and gold. Together, these materials create a layered hospitality palette that feels rustic but considered, comfortable but elevated, and closely connected to the forest-and-lake environment outside.
